Meridian VP hail Paul Hayes' arrival as a massive signing for the club

MERIDIAN VP manager Dwinder Tamna has hailed the arrival of Paul Hayes as a massive signing for the club.

The 36-year-old wore the number five shirt in his only appearance for Romford in their 3-2 home defeat to Coggeshall Town last weekend.  It was Glenn Tamplin’s first game in charge of the Isthmian League Northern Division basement boys.

“Massive signing,” said Tamna.

“The club is delighted to announce the signing of striker Paul Hayes.

“Paul has played over 500 professional League matches, playing in the Championship, League One and League Two.”

Meridian VP are based in Charlton and play in the tenth-tier of English football and they are presenting sitting in the bottom five in the Sea Pioneer Southern Counties East Football League First Division table, having collected 12 points from 12 league games.

Meridian VP welcome their seventh-placed rivals Lewisham Borough to Charlton Park Lane in the London Senior Trophy Second Round tonight (19:45).

Hayes, who played for Charlton Athletic during the 2011-12 season, where he scored three goals in 19 League appearances, is expected to make his debut.

Charlton Athletic fans can watch tonight’s game at a 40% discount if they show their season tickets at the turnstiles, otherwise admission prices will be £5 (adults) and £3 (concessions).
