McMahon replaces Blade to "push Thamesmead along further"

Friday 14th April 2006

Keith McMahon insists he’ll give the first team managers job at Thamesmead Town 150% after replacing Paul Blade at the helm, writes Stephen McCartney.

The assistant manager replaces Blade, who was first team manager for four seasons, at the Bayliss Avenue club.

McMahon revealed Blade felt “fresh blood” could push the Kentish Observer League club along further.

“A statement will be put on the web soon but Paul feels that he needs a break and he has taken the club as far as he could at the moment, which is a long way,” said McMahon.

“He felt that some fresh blood could help push the club along further.”

But he revealed: “He is still going to be involved with the club.  Paul has been manager for the past four years and has done an excellent job.

”It’s a time consuming job and Paul feels its time to put his feet up for a bit.”

Fourth placed Thamesmead have only two league games remaining.  They travel to Lordswood tomorrow before Hythe Town are the visitors to Bayliss Avenue on the last day of the season (22nd April).
