Margate's youngsters put pen to paper

MARGATE’S policy of recruiting youngsters was confirmed when the Ryman Premier League club unveiled eight new signings today.

The Hartsdown Park club is pleased to announce that the following players, who have progressed through their reserve, under 18 and academy teams, have signed.

Alex Krunic (goalkeeper), Ryan Harker (right-back), Elliot Payne (left midfield), Paul Axon (right winger), Daryn Vanhinsberg (left winger), Chris Lewis (centre forward) and Sam Cliff (centre forward) have all put pen to paper.

Left-sided midfielder, Aaron Quain, 19, who made 13 first-team appearances for Margate last season, was the first player to put pen to paper last week.

New manager Barry Ashby, meanwhile, has also unveiled the signing of Curtis Robinson from neighbours Dover Athletic, although the left-back was not part of Andy Hessenthaler’s first team plans last term when the Crabble club clinched the Ryman League Division One South title.
