Margate boss Jay Saunders signs former Maidstone United striker Jake Embery
MARGATE manager Jay Saunders has signed former Maidstone United striker Jake Embery.
The 21-year-old began his career at Herne Bay, where he scored more than 50 goals for the club in the Isthmian League South East Division.
He then moved to his home-town club in 2020 and has signed for Isthmian League Premier Division side Margate.
“Jake ticks a lot of boxes for the type of player I look for,” Saunders told Margate’s website.
“He is young, hungry and keen to learn and improve his game. He has lots of natural talent and with more games under his belt, I think he can prove to be a real handful at this level.
“Jake has a good goalscoring record and I am confident he will settle in really quickly at the club and I’m looking forward to welcoming him.”
Sanders, meanwhile, revealed that former Dartford striker Norman Wabo has been released by the Hartsdown Park club.
The 23-year-old scored twice on his debut for Margate, a 4-2 win over Aylesbury United in The FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round tie in Chesham on Sunday 1 November 2020.
Margate haven’t played a competitive game since due to Covid-19 lockdowns.
