Margate sign former Dartford defender Daniel Johnson
MARGATE have unveiled the signing of former Dartford left-back Daniel Johnson.
Johnson, 23, who is a former England C representative, has previously played for Maidstone United, Herne Bay and Bromley and spent last season with Vanarama National League South side Dartford.
“I left Dartford and was approached by Jay Saunders and I was keen to come as I’ve known Jay for a long time. He’s coached me previously (at Maidstone United) and I know he is a good manager so I am really pleased to join Margate,” Johnson told www.margate-fc.co.uk.
“I feel comfortable playing out from the back, going long when needed and like to think of myself as a solid defender.
The Margate squad resume training tomorrow, offering the chance for Johnson to meet up with some familiar and new faces, ahead of their Isthmian Premier Division campaign.
“It’s all fun for the players, getting back to reality with pre-season! But it’s good for us to meet and get to know each other as we prepare for the season,” said the versatile Johnson.
“I know Connor, Jordy and Swify (Connor Dymond, Jordan Robins and Ben Swift) so there will be a few familiar faces. We have a young squad so we will be energetic, hard-working and a really positive team which I’m excited about.”
