MARGATE are delighted to announce that Nikki Bull has been appointed first team manager until the end of the 2017-18 season.

Bull, who took caretaker charge in December following the departure of Terry Brown, now at relegated league rivals Basingstoke Town, oversaw a ten game unbeaten run has now committed to Hartsdown Park until April 2018.

Despite currently being on a nine game losing streak, chairman John Webb insists the recent off field issues have not helped matters and that Bull is the right man to lead the Gate forward.

“Nikki has had to work in some difficult situations over the past few weeks and his attitude and commitment to the job have been first class,” Mr Webb told www.margatefc-co.uk.

“We know what Nikki can achieve with this football club and we look forward to enjoying a successful era under his management”.

The chairman says this appointment now ends off field uncertainty and the Margate fans have a huge role to play over the final three games.

Margate have slipped down to the bottom five in the Vanarama National League South table with 44 points and are only two points clear of the relegation zone.

Mr Webbs said: “The fans have been on a journey with us over the last few weeks and now they have been fantastic. We have a huge three games now to make sure we remain a Vanarama National League South side next season and the fans are very important in those three games starting tomorrow away at Bishops Stortford”.

Everyone would like to wish Nikki all the best for his tenure and look forward to a successful end to the season.

The club have announced the appointment of Ryan Day, 25, as their new chief executive.

Day has been responsible for the club’s media department for the previous two years and will now undertake his new role following the departure of Chris Pope.

Mr Webb added: “I am delighted that Ryan has taken on this opportunity at the club., We all know how much Ryan cares about the club and his desire and passion will help him succeed in this role.”

Mr Day added: “It is an honour to be asked by John to take on this very important role within the club.  It is a new challenge for me but one that I will work on 24-7 to ensure the very best for Margate Football Club.”
