Margate sign former Tottenham and Brighton striker Daniel Akindayini
MARGATE boss Nikki Bull has unveiled the signing of striker Daniel Akindayini on a one-year deal following his release from Brighton & Hove Albion.
The 20-year-old spent a month on loan at Hartsdown Park in February 2016 when he scored a brace on his debut in Margate’s 2-1 win over Basingstoke Town in the Vanarama National League South.
The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster played just 45 minutes more for the club in their 3-2 win at Chelmsford City, but an ankle injury brought a premature end to his loan deal and he returned to parent club Brighton & Hove Albion.
Bull, who has revealed his budget for the new season has been reduced by 70%, is delighted to have secured the striker ahead of the new season.
“Daniel is another top striker that we have added to our already impressive attacking options,” Bull told www.margate-fc.co.uk.
“Even though his time with us last season was cut short because of injury, U have seen enough of him to know he will cause team’s problems this year and score goals for us.”
Margate kick-off their pre-season campaign on Saturday with a visit from local rivals Ramsgate to Hartsdown Park (15:00).
