Margate boss Jay Saunders appoints former goalkeeper Craig Holloway as first team coach
MARGATE manager Jay Saunders has appointed former goalkeeper Craig Holloway as first team coach.
Holloway, 34, made over 80 appearances for Margate during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons.
“I’m really pleased to have Craig as part of my team of staff,” Saunders told www.margate-fc.co.uk.
“I’ve known him for a very long time, I’ve played with him and believe he will be a valuable asset to me, the players and the club.
“His knowledge, experience and character will really strengthen us as a group and I’m looking forward to working with him.”
The Margate squad commenced pre-season training at the weekend and return to action at Hartsdown Park on Saturday, 6 July (15:00) to play Vanarama National League South side Welling United.
“It was great to get the boys together at the weekend. It was a tough one in the heat, but everyone was in great spirits and we’re ready to get to work and prepare for the season,” said Saunders.
“It will be nice to return to Hartsdown Park this Saturday and for supporters to get their first glimpse of the new players we’ve brought in. At this very early stage, it is all about banking valuable minutes and getting a good run out and I’ve no doubt both sides will find it a productive afternoon.”
