Loui Fazackerley pens new one-year contract to stay at Welling United
He has been a fans’ favourite since his move from their Blue Square Bet South rivals Bromley in October 2008.
He began his career with three professional clubs, West Ham United, Leyton Orient and Fulham, before dropping down into non-league football with Eastbourne Borough, Leyton and Bishop’s Stortford.
Fazackerley was an integral part of last season's squad and manager Day was keen to keep him at Park View Road.
The deal has taken longer than expected to finalise as Fazackerley has been on holiday but he put pen to paper when the players reported back for pre-season training last night.
Day told www.wellingunited.com: "Loui is a popular member of the squad and it's good to sign him again.
"We actually agreed the deal sometime ago but due to various factors he hadn't signed it until now.
"He did well for us last season and I'm sure he can achieve even more this year in a Welling shirt."
The club have today proudly announced that they have signed a new main sponsorship deal with a local business.
The Wings will be sponsored by Bexley-based Frank Priston & Sons Plumbing & Heating Services.
The one-year deal is a major boost for the club ahead of the start of the new season.
"We're delighted that Frank Priston & Sons have come on board and we're grateful for their support," said Welling co-owner Barrie Hobbins.
"We're part of the local community so we're pleased that a local business is backing us. Hopefully more companies will be able to come on board this season.
"Times are hard at the moment in every walk of life so we're delighted to have this deal before the start of the season."
Frank Priston & Sons Plumbing & Heating Services are based close to Park View Road and have been established since 1938.
The deal will be formally announced prior to the start of the pre-season friendly with Charlton Athletic on Saturday, July 9 (3pm).
