As always we have done as much homework as possible on Fire United and we have a plan going into the game that we feel gives us the best chance to win, says Lordswood boss Richard Styles

LORDSWOOD manager Richard Styles says he has done his homework on FA Vase debutants Fire United whom visit Martyn Grove in the First Qualifying Round tomorrow.

Lordswood go into the game sitting in third-place in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with 11 points from six games and are only a couple of points adrift of leaders Chatham Town.

Fire United arrive in Kent sitting bottom of the Eastern Counties League Division One South table having lost all three of their league outings.

“We are on schedule so far after a month into the season. We’ve had a good number of games and we are happy where we are currently,” said Styles.

“It’s a marathon, not a sprint and you don’t want to play your best football early doors and peak too early but at the same time it’s important to put points on the board and win games.

“There’s things we need to improve at and to better with but we are all working hard to do that and I’m not worried.”

Looking ahead to the visit of Fire United tomorrow, Styles revealed he knows plenty about the East London outfit.

“As always we have done as much homework as possible and we have a plan going into the game that we feel gives us the best chance to win the game and it’s down to us to execute that now,” said Styles.

Lordswood lost 5-0 at home to a Charlton Athletic XI on Wednesday night to mark their 50th anniversary.

“We’ve had great preparation from it and possibly the best training session possible on Wednesday night when we played Charlton Athletic, where we were able to work on things and try some new things but it was a great workout for everyone and built us up nicely going into tomorrow and we are looking forward to it.”
