We know it will be tough but we also know what we are capable of, says Lordswood boss Richard Styles

LORDSWOOD manager Richard Styles says his side go to Sevenoaks Town as underdogs in their FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round tie at Greatness Park.

The Lords are sitting second in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table after beating Croydon 2-1 and Sheppey United 1-0 this week.

It will be Micky Collins’ side first as a Bostik South East Division club, because all promoted club’s will kick-off their campaign in The FA Cup instead of playing a league game.

“The first two league fixtures we got drawn with were difficult ones against decent and tough sides in our league, but we have come through them now and I am happy that we have gained maximum points out of them,” said Styles.

“The Croydon game was a tough place to go, but we deserved the win.

“On Wednesday against Sheppey we played better than Saturday but still not our full potential and fully deserved the three points and it could’ve been more than 1-0 to be honest.

“We’ve had plenty of players missing for both games and this weekend but that’s what squads are for and they need to be used.”

Lordswood will fancy their chances against last season’s promoted champions Sevenoaks Town.

“The FA Cup draw was obviously a tough one putting us against a side a league above but it is what it is and we need to make sure we’re set-up in a way that gives us a chance to win the game,” said Styles.

“We are the underdogs - we know that - but that’s what The FA Cup is all about.

“I am happy with our momentum from two games going into Saturday’s game and we look to continue and the boys are looking forward to it.

“I’m not expecting an easy game, but I am happy with how we will set-up. We know it will be tough but we also know what we are capable of.”

If Lordswood can pull off a shock then they will scoop £2,250, if not then they will still bank £750 in FA Prize money.

Styles added:  “I’d be lying if I said the prize money isn’t in our and the club's minds as it is for every club at this stage but for the 90 minutes we’ll let the football take priority and then we can reassess.”
