We all know what we need to do between now and Christmas to stand us in good stead for the second half of the season, says Lordswood boss Richard Styles

Friday 09th November 2018

LORDSWOOD manager Richard Styles says he wants his side to bounce back from their FA Vase disappointment by bouncing back in the league.

The club suffered a 5-0 thrashing at Surrey-based club Abbey Rangers in The Buildbase FA Vase Second Round last weekend and Styles demands a reaction when struggling Croydon visit Martyn Grove tomorrow.

Croydon are rooted to the foot of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having lost all of their 11 games, while Lordswood are sitting in thirteenth-place with 18 points from 12 league outings.

“We play Croydon at home tomorrow and we are expecting a tough game and go into it with a plan to put in place to win the game,” said Styles.

“The game last Saturday is well behind us now and a distant memory.  I’m only worried about the now.  We have trained well this week and worked hard going into tomorrow’s game.

“League position wise we are not happy with and feel on reflection we deserve to be higher but it also doesn’t lie.  We’ve dropped points in games where we shouldn’t have.

“We have some games in hand and the league doesn’t become very apparent until the new year anyway, so we’re not worried.

“I’m happy with the squad and the new boys coming in, we’ve been in a transition phase recently but we now have a group together than work well and the atmosphere is one I’m happy with in the changing rooms and around the club etc.

“We all know what we need to do between now and Christmas to stand us in good stead for the second half of the season.”
