The aim is to be in the top five come the end of the season, says Lordswood boss Richard Styles

LORDSWOOD boss Richard Styles says he wants his side to finish in the top five in the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table.

The club are in seventh-place in the table with 49 points on the board and they have eight games left to play, starting with tomorrow’s trip to AFC Croydon Athletic.

The Rams have slipped away in to tenth-place in the table with 46 points in the bag and Lordswood are only a point behind fifth-placed Corinthian.

“The Easter period was very frustrating because we had two games called off against Rusthall and Whitstable,” said Styles.

“We wanted to play both games and get them done and points on the board but it wasn’t to be and we were able to train and do some work on the training pitch.

“Our last league game against Beckenham Town was a very pleasing 3-0 result and the performance was superb.

“The Quarter-Final against Whitstable, the lads were unfortunate and gave it their all but it wasn’t meant to be.”

Looking forward to their trip to AFC Croydon Athletic tomorrow, Styles said: “We go into tomorrow’s game prepped and planned to go and get a result. We know it’s always a difficult place to go and also that we need to be at our best to get a result.

“As far as the rest of the season goes our season is certainly not over and we go into the final stretch with a lot of games but a lot of our opposition are teams around us so it’s really in our hands to get the results to finish as high as possible and the aim is to be in the top five come the end of the season.”
