I’m extremely proud of the team, management and all involved in our recent ascendance, says Lewisham Borough boss Justin Fevrier

Friday 21st December 2018

LEWISHAM BOROUGH manager Justin Fevrier says his young squad are working harder than ever to keep up their progress this season.

The club are in tenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table, having collected 22 points from 17 games and they thrashed FC Elmstead 5-0 in their last game on 8 December.

“I thought we made a real statement to the league that we can mix it with the bigger teams,” said Fevrier, who has turned around the club’s fortunes this season.

“There was a very causal response to us demolishing FC Elmstead 5-0 at home, it could’ve been even more!  Elmstead have only conceded 17 goals prior to that, it says a lot about them.”

The pitch at the Ladywell Arena passed an 11:30 pitch inspection this morning so Lewisham Borough will be playing Phoenix Sports Reserves tonight.

Del Oldfield took the reins at the start of the season and his side are in the bottom two, having collected 10 points from their 16 league games.  They are level with basement side Snodland Town, who do have a game in hand.

Fevrier said: “I believe it’s a game that can go either way.  I understand they have had some very good results recently but on our day we can beat anybody in my humble opinion.

“I’m extremely proud of the team, management and all involved in our recent ascendance.

“Together, we have achieved a lot with half the season down. We are working harder than ever on and off the pitch and there is a real focus and hunger to achieve in the squad now.

“We have one of the youngest squads in the league but also one of the most experienced.

“Our league position is still not a true reflection of our work. We believe we will still climb but that starts tonight at home to Phoenix.

“We are taking things one game at a time and see what position that leaves us come May!”

Fevrier had this Christmas message for the Ladywell Arena faithful.

“I’d personally like to wish our supporters on match day and followers on Social Media a Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year.  The club is extremely appreciative and it goes a long way with the players too.  We hope to have your continued support next year.”
