We have been working extremely hard off and on the pitch to improve, says Lewisham Borough boss Justin Fevrier

LEWISHAM BOROUGH manager Justin Fevrier says he is pleased with the progress that he has made at Ladywell Arena so far this season.

The club are in thirteenth-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with 13 points from 14 games.

They welcome third-from-bottom side Kent Football United to Ladywell Arena tomorrow, which will be Ennio Gonnella’s final game in charge of the Dartford based club.

“I have seen the unfortunate events that have taken place today with their gaffer stepping down. He has done extremely well over the course of the last few seasons,” said Fevrier.

“Kent Football United are a team I’m aware of. I have ties with several of their current and past players.

“I expect there to be a lot of fight despite what’s going on. They have a very talented group, which does not reflect their league position.

“The boys will have to be very focused and at their best to get a result at home tomorrow.”

Lewisham Borough went down to a 2-1 home defeat to Kennington last weekend.

“We went into the Kennington game confident we could get a result but we just never turned up until the last 20 minutes.  It was extremely frustrating but nonetheless on another day we take a point,” said Fevrier.

“I still believe our league position could still to be a few places higher.  We have been working extremely hard off and on the pitch to improve.

“Unearthing these young talents like Ryan Curran, Archie Todd and Kelvin Adeii have been massive boosts to the season.

“We have already matched last years’ tally of four wins and we’re one point of last season’s final total and we’re only in November!

“I’m not getting carried away, I believe five wins makes us overall the most successful squad at this level.

“We have several milestones we aim to achieve this season. We’ll continue to quietly improve, fight for each other and climb hopefully, all despite some people may be saying about us failing.”

Meanwhile, Lewisham Borough have lost a couple of players with centre-half Ola Williams signing for Premier Division strugglers Tunbridge Wells, while Aaron McCallum has been snapped up by Bostik League side Molesey.
