Leppard changes his spots

Friday 26th May 2006
Owing to a change in personal circumstances, Lee Strutt is stepping down from his current role at Ramsgate and, although he will still be involved with the reserve team, the club has appointed Jason Leppard as the new reserve team manager at Southwood Stadium, reports www.ramsgate-fc.co.uk

Leppard is well known in local football and has spent the last four years with Herne Bay managing their 2nd XI, as well as seven games in charge of the first team.

Holder of an FA Level 3 coaching badge, Leppard will be seeking to ensure that Ramsgate's reserves have both the fitness and the skills to step up to compete for a place in the first team should the opportunity present itself.

Training sessions will, as usual, be in association with Jim Ward’s Ryman Premier League first team where appropriate, but the pre-season sessions are starting a week earlier than the first team so that Jason can become familiar with his new charges.

Anyone not involved with the reserves who wishes to try out for the squad are also welcome, and should be at the Clarendon House Sports Field, off Marden Avenue, Ramsgate, at 12pm on Saturday 24 June.

* The above information was supplied in a press release by Ramsgate Football Club, but today, 31st May 2006, John Bathurst, the chairman of Herne Bay Football Club, issued the following statement regarding the above article.

“In your report it states that Jason Leppard had spent the last four years at Herne Bay.
This is not correct. He walked out of Herne Bay when (manager) Jason Lillis took over at the start of the 2004-05 season. I would appreciate if this could be corrected.”
