I loved by time at Bromley - now I'm hoping to embark on a successful venture at Eastbourne Borough, says Hugo Langton

HUGO LANGTON says he’s feeling excited about his new venture at Eastbourne Borough after being appointed coach at Priory Lane.

Highly-professional Langton spent two seasons at Bromley, where he played a key role in the club’s Vanarama Conference South title success last season, which was the Ravens first title in 54 years.

Tonbridge-based Langton quit his full-time job in Thamesmead Town’s Academy set-up in the close season to go full-time at Bromley, as they embarked on their debut in the rebranded Vanarama National League.

But despite his life-changing decision, Bromley asked Langton to leave the club a couple of days before Wrexham were beaten 3-1 at Hayes Lane on the opening day of the new season.

Langton has returned to Hayes Lane to run trial matches on the club’s 3G pitch at the back of the stadium and insisted there are no hard feelings with manager Mark Goldberg or chairman Jerry Dolke following his departure.

“I loved my time at Bromley and have made so many friends and have so many fantastic memories,” said Langton.

“It was a special time and one I’ll never forget.

“Mark Goldberg and Jerry Dolke are top people who I’ll continue to work with on my other project.

“Now I’m hoping to embark on a successful venture at Eastbourne Borough.

“I’ve got to know Tommy Widdrington well of late as he’s been very supportive of a venture I launched to help players find clubs.

“He’s a proper football man and I’m excited to have the chance to work with him and progress the club. He’s my sort of manager.

“Eastbourne are a great club and I’ve been made very welcome.

Eastbourne Borough manager Widdrington told www.ebfc.co.uk: “I am delighted to have a man of Hugo’s calibre on board.  He brings great experience, a very sharp football brain and a track record of winning.

“We will let his duties evolve rather than writing down a job description at this stage.

“Our coaching team is already strong and I must also mention the superb contribution of Chris Agutter, who has shown terrific leadership of the Academy, as well as being at my shoulder with the first team.

“But there is always space for extra input and wisdom and Hugo provides just that.

“I’m sure everyone at the club will join me in welcoming him to Priory Lane.”

UEFA A Licenced coach Langton runs his own scouting network and match analysis, which proved to be a vital cog in Bromley’s title-winning success last season.
