Lancing ground improvements force Faversham Cup switch

Saturday 04th August 2007

Faversham Town’s forthcoming FA Cup fixture against Sussex County League side Lancing, has been re-arranged to accommodate the south coast side’s ground improvements at their Culver Road Stadium.

The preliminary round fixture will now take place on Sunday, 19th August (3pm), one day later than originally planned, as the Shooting Field, home of fellow Sussex County League Division Two side, Steyning Town.

Faversham Town secretary Mr Alan Trent explained to www.favershamtownfc.co.uk : “Lancing have been planning the upgrade works for eleven years but have only recently received grant funding to allow the works to take place.

“Delaying the start date would have jeopardised the funding so they have been forced into re-arranging all of their home fixtures until January 2008.”

Travel arrangements to the re-arranged fixture are currently being finalised by the Kent League side and full details will be posted on the club’s website and local press as soon as they are finalised.
