We go to Croydon tomorrow expecting a tough game as they are fighting for their survival in the league, says K Sports manager Kris Browning
K SPORTS manager Kris Browning says he is expecting a tough game at relegation threatened side Croydon tomorrow.
The Trams are rooted to the foot of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table, having won two and drawn one of their 30 games and they are 15 points adrift of safety with eight games remaining.
K Sports arrive at the Croydon Sports Arena on a run of four straight defeats, their last win being at home to Croydon by four goals to one.
Aylesford based K Sports are sitting in 12th place in the table, having banked 41 points from their 31 league outings.
“We go to Croydon tomorrow expecting a tough game as they are fighting for their survival in the league,” said Browning, who watched Croydon’s 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Hollands & Blair.
“I watched them on Wednesday night at Hollands & Blair and they have some good players and we’re unfortunate not to come away with something.
“We aren’t in the best form of late, which I’m not pleased with. We got to the safety 40 points mark at the start of the month and we took our foot of the gas and results have not been what we expect.
“I suppose it’s just a mindset of being safe and now we can relax but I would like to finish as high as we can. It will help with attracting players for next season.
“I’m pushing for a budget for next season. There’s teams in our league with big budgets that will most only finish mid-table this season.
“This season we have only been able to help the lads with petrol money and some expenses, which has worked out at around £30 a player.
“Next season will be tougher as teams will know what we’re about. It’s just the way the game has gone. The money being spent in our league is crazy but then I suppose people are determined for their club to succeed and you’ve got to respect that.
“For a newly-promoted club we feel we have had a decent season and handled ourselves well in the league.
“We are safe and I will be looking to keep blooding the youngsters that we’ve got at our club.
“We’ve enjoyed most of the season so far and hopefully we can continue to build for the future, with a new stand going in and dressing rooms being started this year, things are looking good for the club.”
