It will be a better and tougher league next season and that’s credit to the clubs in the SCEFL, says K Sports boss Kris Browning

K SPORTS manager Kris Browning says it’s been another good, progressive season for the Ditton based club.

The Paperboys complete their campaign with a home clash against tenth-placed Sporting Club Thamesmead tomorrow, sitting in the top five of the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table with 67 points.

“It’s been another good season for us on and off the field and we are pleased with the progress we have made and I hope it will get better,” said Browning.

“SC Thamesmead have had a great end to the season so we know we are in for a tough last game.”

Browning revealed that he beings the search for a new head coach after the game.

He said: “It will be the club’s head coach Dennis Overton’s last game. He is stepping side to spend more time with his grandchildren.

“He joined us about four seasons ago when we were back in the County League and since his first day has been a great inspiration to the club and myself, with his knowledge of coaching he took us to a different level as a club.  I’m a better and calmer manager these days and it’s down to him, a true football gentleman who has given most his life to football.

“He isn’t leaving for good though. Dennis wants to stay part of the club and has got some ideas he wants to try with the youth section, which is good. With the way our club is growing we need people like him around.

“I’m looking to appoint a new head coach and also someone to work alongside Graham Martin and myself in the next few weeks.

“We are already looking forward to next season with the ground under further re-development and with us trying to improve the squad.

“There’s a few aims and objectives we need to achieve. Our discipline on and off the field hasn’t been good enough at times and it’s something the new chairman and myself want to address.

“I would like the lads to maybe get some travel expenses for games, but we’ll have to wait and see.

“It will be a better and tougher league next season and that’s credit to the clubs in the SCEFL who have worked hard, but as we have always done at our club, we will give it our best and see what happens.”
