We've got a friendly rivarly with Lydd Town, says K Sports defender Martin Di Fede
K SPORTS manager Kris Browning says he is looking forward to tonight’s trip down to Lydd Town.
The Paperboys celebrated winning their first FA Vase tie at the weekend, becoming the first side to win at Colliers Wood United this season, courtesy of goals from striker Caine Smith and an injury-time penalty from substitute Jason Perry in a 2-0 win.
K Sports return to Southern Counties East Football League First Division action at Lydd Town tonight, sitting in the top five with 13 points from six games, while Liam Smith’s side are a couple of places higher with 13 points in the bag from their seven league outings.
“We’re looking forward to it, it’s not a bad journey for us, down the M20. We quite enjoy going down there to be honest. The pitch is usually superb down there,” said Browning.
“I know Liam Smith quite well. I get on with him so I’m looking forward to seeing him after his accident and everything else.”
Right-back Martin Di Fede, who shortly turns 33, took the captains armband from Liam Dawson, who was injured for Saturday’s FA Vase tie.
“We’ve got a friendly rivalry with them. I don’t think we’ve ever played them on a Saturday, it’s always been Bank Holiday or midweek,” said Di Fede.
“It’s not the nicest place to go but they’re a good side. They are where they are, you’d expect them to be up there. You know what you’re going to get from them and we’ll go down there and do what we can.”
