We need to compete next season as it seems more and more money is coming into our level, says K Sports manager Kris Browning
K SPORTS manager Kris Browning says he wants to offer his players expenses for the first time next season.
The Aylesford-based go into their last five games of the season sitting in the top-five in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table on 61 points.
The Paperboys suffered a 4-1 home defeat to league leaders Rusthall at the weekend and Browning said: “The scoreline didn’t really reflect the game as we had one or two big decisions go against us but Rusthall still deserved to win.
“Rusthall are the best side we have played this season and I’m pleased for the club and the two Steve’s (Ashmore and Sands), they deserve to get promotion.
“I had a great year at Rusthall back in 2007 and I know how well the club is run, so good luck to them., it’s a great club.
“We on the other hand are still trying to improve on last season’s sixth-place finish so we still have a lot to play for.”
Glebe can leapfrog over Rusthall and go two points clear at the summit – with three games in hand on the Rustics - if they claim a victory at K Sports on Tuesday night.
“We take on Glebe which will be a tough game for us, against a very good side with a good chairman who pumps money into the team, but we are very much looking forward to it,” said Browning.
“I want us to finish the season strong but I do already have one eye on next season and my re-building has already started.”
Browning has worked a miracle this season without any budget and he wants to match the club’s off-the-pitch ground improvements on the club’s artificial pitch.
“Next season will be very different. The changing rooms, sports hall and gym will all be built,” said Browning.
“It’s been a bit of a nightmare this season with playing 14 away games on the bounce and then changing at home on a building site but the lads have been top drawer for me and it’s another season where we’ve done so well in this league.
“The two joint-chairmen whom have taken over in the last year have been outstanding and have pushed the club on to the next stage.
“I have spoken to them about maybe covering the club’s expenses next season as I feel it’s the next step. We need to compete next season as it seems more and more money is coming into our level, but we will have to wait and see. Our facilities should impress some players, at least.”
