I feel Punjab will win the league but that second place is definitely up for grabs for so many teams and we need to be on our toes and keep going, says K Sports manager Kris Browning
K SPORTS manager Kris Browning says Punjab United will overtake his side and will go on and win the Southern Counties East Football League First Division title.
The artist formerly known as Aylesford Paper Mills are currently at the top of the table with 56 points from 23 games, while Gravesend-based Punjab United travel to fourth-placed side Kent Football United in second-place in the table with 55 points.
It’s a massive weekend in the title race as Browning takes his side to third-placed Fisher, who are five points adrift of Punjab and with two teams winning promotion in April Saturday’s games are massive.
“I’m really pleased with how the season is going,” said Browning.
“I didn’t think we would be top of the table going into February but if someone would’ve said that at the start of the season we would’ve taken that, especially with how competitive the league is.
“Every team we play tell us ‘you know Punjab will win the league!, and to be fair I think they will win it with the resources they have but we will keep going and I know the lads will fight to the end.
“We have some very tough games left starting with Fisher away on Saturday. I have watched them a few times and they’re a good outfit with a good manager who’s turned them around but as always we will prepare well and give it a go.
“Teams are improving week-in-week-out and it’s great for the league and a good league to play in. Teams are capable of beating anyone in the league, which is healthy.
“I feel Punjab will win the league but that second place is definitely up for grabs for so many teams and we need to be on our toes and keep going.”
