KENTISH FOOTBALL STATEMENT
A statement from your editor:
I spend in the region of around £3,000 per year of my own personal money to run this website.
This includes paying huge train fares to get to matches from my home in Tunbridge Wells to attend at least two games per week and to telephone managers to preview/review their games - something that I love doing and do well.
I have an excellent reputation with 99% of football clubs and I work tirelessly to provide you with an excellent service, trying to hold down a job in London in the process. It’s not much fun when you’ve only had four hours sleep following a midweek game!
However, on the last couple of days, my integrity has been questioned by one Kent Football League club.
This website strives to bring truthful facts and quotes from the people that I interview.
I run this website to assist Kent Football Clubs - not to work against them.
However, conversations with this Kent League Football Club - and I will not name the club involved - has really demoralised me - and although I have apologised to the person involved, if my article has offended, that was NOT my intention.
Some people that follow Kent League football, however, are so obsessed with playing budgets - is that really important?
There are more important things in my world to be worrying about questioning how much clubs at this level of football pay their players.
I’m more concerned about how will I be able to pay my own ever-increasing utility bills than the wage bills of X Y and Z.
For me, when I cover games, thus increasing club’s publicity that some don’t get elsewhere, I watch the game and/or interview the manager(s) involved.
It is not my remit to interrogate managers that pay their players “beer money”, but to work with them and their clubs to help put bums on seats.
I therefore advise everybody involved to draw a line under this matter and continue our working relationship as before.
