Kent coach crosses the border - EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW
In an EXCLUSIVE interview with www.kentishfootball.co.uk Robbins, 33, said: "I am extremely happy with the appointment, and look forward to plying my trade at a level equivalent of the Kent premier division."
Robbins, who lives in Ashford, has already offered a couple of key positions to some of his ex backroom staff at his two previous clubs, and is awaiting conformation from them before announcing anything.
"I like to think that I try to put together young, hungry sides, and I would expect my backroom to be very similar,” he said.
Rye United, formerly Rye and Iden United, have dropped the Iden from the title, after the village side (Iden) decided that they wanted to be stand alone again.
This means that Rye United will be running two senior sides, and half a dozen youth sides.
"I have been waiting for an opportunity like this for some time,” said Robbins. “The committee have given me wide scope to bring some fresh ideas to the table and I look forward rewarding their commitment with some happy times and a club to be proud of."
Robbins follows Tommy Sampson from Kent football into the Sussex County League, and he will want to follow in the Ex Deal and Dartford managers' footsteps after being involved in guiding Horsham YMCA into the first division of the Ryman League after just one season.
Rye United are currently looking for freindlies for the new season, but because they share the facilities with Rye Cricket Club, are unable to host.
If you would like a home friendly with Rye United, please call their secretary on 07775736412 – but let him know you read this article on www.kentishfootball.co.uk
