Jenkins looks forward to Woking test

Sunday 12th July 2009
CRAY WANDERERS got their pre-season campaign off to a winning start with a 3-1 victory at Beckenham Town yesterday, writes Stephen McCartney.

Goals from Michael Power, Steve Aris and Scott Kinch sealed the win over Kent League their opponents.

Manager Ian Jenkins, who is preparing his side for a play-off chasing campaign in the club’s first ever at Ryman Premier League level, has arranged two midweek games in the space of 24 hours to click into gear this week.

The Wands make the trip to Park View Road on Tuesday night to play another Kent League side in Erith & Belvedere, before full-time Blue Square South outfit Woking are the visitors to Hayes Lane 24-hours later.

“Looking forward to them,” Jenkins told www.kentishfootball.co.uk .  “I’m looking at two strong sides on both nights.  Having two games in two nights is a lot easier than pre-season training.

“I’m looking forward to playing against a team like Woking who are a top side from a higher level, on a decent pitch at Bromley, it should be good.”

Meanwhile, the club would like to hear from people who are interested in being a physio for the first team.

Beckenham Town, meanwhile, welcome Ryman League Division One South side Dulwich Hamlet to Eden Park Avenue on Thursday, 16th July, kicking off at 7pm.
