I've got a tough away game to start off with, says returning Sittingbourne boss Nick Davis

NICK DAVIS says he cannot wait to get his second spell in charge of Sittingbourne underway tomorrow.

Davis was unveiled as the club’s new manager on Wednesday for his second spell in charge of the club.

His first game back in charge is a trip to Three Bridges tomorrow.

Sittingbourne are in seventh-place in the Ryman League Division One South table, having won nine, drawn three and lost seven games in the league this season.

Davis, was in joint-charge alongside Matt Wyatt last season, but after Davis resigned, Wyatt was put in sole charge at the start of the season  and the club were sitting in fourth-place in the table before Wyatt stood down on 7 October 2014.

George Crimmen, who was Wyatt’s assistant manager, was appointed caretaker manager but results dipped and the club have re-appointed Davis.

Davis takes charge of tomorrow’s game against a Three Bridges side that were knocked out of The FA Trophy in the First Qualifying Round by Thamesmead Town last weekend and are sitting in fourteenth-place in the table.

“Yes, tough away game to start off with, but I just can’t wait to get it going,” said Davis.

“I have had a couple of in-depth reports about the way in which they play their strengths and weaknesses.

“I managed to watch them twice last year and having played against them twice they haven’t made too many changes in personnel.

“Thamesmead played them last week in the Trophy and won that game 3-1.  However, they are a different proposition at home, only losing on the one occasion to Faversham the other week.

“It will be tough and we are going to have to be harder to break down and not so open than the boys were on Tuesday against Redhill, but hey, maybe that’s the defender in me!

“They have a couple of exceptional players that will need to be kept quiet.

“A team and formation will be put in place to counter act their strengths and give us enough of a threat to win the match.”
