It's out of our hands, but we'll give it a go, insists Burman

Dartford fans face an anxious 90 minutes when they travel to Barton Rovers tomorrow - the final day of the season, writes Stephen McCartney.

Tony Burman’s side are in eighth place on 58 points and will be hoping Wivenhoe Town (61) and Waltham Forest (59) fail to pick up points to sneak into that final play-off spot.

The Dragons travel to Enfield, whilst Forest travel to second placed Corby Town, who need a point to join Boreham Wood in the automatic promotion spots.

And Burman admitted tomorrow’s game is “a game that we must win to stand any chance of getting into the last play-off place.”

He told www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk  “I realise we have to rely on others but I feel we must concentrate and be focused on what we have to do in our game first before we hear from elsewhere.”

Burman and his exciting squad, especially former Slade Green wingers Dave Martin and Ryan Hayes, must be congratulated in turning around the club’s fortunes, and things can only get better next season, especially when they return home in September.

“This week the players have trained well and again the atmosphere in the camp is excellent,” he revealed.

Having suffered a broken finger against Harlow Town, Brad Potter should be available tomorrow.

Congratulating Grant Spelling and his side’s 3-1 victory over Whitstable Town on Wednesday night, winning the Kentish Observer League Reserve Division Cup Final, Burman had this message for the fans travelling to Bedfordshire: “I would like the players and the supporters to travel to Barton and really enjoy themselves.

“Let’s do what we have to do first and worry about the rest at 4:45pm.”
