It should be an entertaining game at Holmesdale, says Woodstock Sports' assistant Chris Cooper

WOODSTOCK SPORTS’ assistant manager Chris Cooper insists his side must bounce back from their defeat at Croydon last weekend.

The Sittingbourne-based side went down to a 2-1 defeat at Croydon Sports Arena and sit in the bottom five in the Southern Counties East Football League table with 11 points from as many games.

Woodstock Sports travel to tenth-placed Holmesdale on Saturday and Lee Hockey’s assistant manager said: “We are very much looking forward to playing Holmesdale this weekend.”

Cooper added: “It gives us the chance to right the wrongs of our performance last week.

“Our first half last week was far below the standard we have set ourselves this season and was the worst we have played for a long time.

“The lads got a bit of a rocket and the second half was a totally different story and we recovered some pride. We could have scored four or five.”

John-Paul Collier has got Holmesdale playing some quality passing football this season and Daniel Stewart has already scored thirteen goals already.

Cooper said: “Holmesdale will try to get the ball down and play. It should be a good game. We know they like to keep the ball and be fluid, which suits the way we like to play as well.

“It should be an entertaining game.  They try to pass the ball and from what we hear they are also pressing the ball with real intensity this year.

“When we played them at their place last year, we probably deserved a share of the points but inexperience and a little bit of bad luck cost us the result.

“Live I’ve said before we are a young side and we will make mistakes but we are trying to play some attractive attacking football, which the supporters can enjoy and will move us up the league.”
