It's getting Dark at Ramsgate - EXCLUSIVE
RAMSGATE BOSS Jim Ward has temporarily solved his right-back crisis by signing Lewis Dark, 18, on a month-loan from mid-table League Two outfit Brentford, writes Stephen McCartney.
Dark, with a squad number of 24 at Griffin Park, has been drafted into the Rams squad for tomorrow night’s vital Ryman Premier League showdown at rivals Tonbridge Angels - a game that both sides must win.
Dark is the youngest member of the Bees first team squad and played the final three games of last season and Ward is relishing the opportunity to give the teenager some more experience on loan, having previously been shipped out to Blue Square South outfit Farnborough Town.
“I’ve been looking for a right-back since I lost Lawrence Ball (to Dover Athletic), Ashley Burton (college) and Edd Vahid (Bath University),” Ward said EXCLUSIVELY to www.kentishfootball.co.uk.
"I’ve got a chance to sign this lad on a month’s loan to see what he’s up to.”
Ward added: “Andy Hadden’s been playing right-back under sufferance. He’s not a right-back, he’s a midfield player but I’ve had to play him there.”

The Rams consolidated fifth place in the table following their crucial 2-1 win over second placed side Hendon at Southwood Stadium at the weekend.
The Thanet side closed the gap on the north Londoners to eight points and the sides immediately below them in the table, AFC Hornchurch, Margate and Harrow Borough are four points behind Ward’s men as the pressure intensifies.
“It was a result that we had to have for us to stay in the promotion race, the play-off positions,” explained the Scot.
“Hendon are one of the teams that we had to catch, a very good side. The lads pulled it out of the hat.”
Ward takes his side from east to west Kent to confront a Tonbridge Angels side that’s still smarting from their FA Trophy exit at the hands of AFC Wimbledon.
But Ward said: “We will be going there positive. The boys are confident with two great results, away to Hornchurch and at home to Hendon.
“So there’s no reason why we can’t be nice and positive tomorrow night.”
Tommy Warrilow’s Angels are currently third from bottom in the table and searching for a vital three points to climb out of the drop zone.
“I’ll be perfectly honest, I don’t see too much about all the teams in this league,” said Ward.
“If you’re top of the league or bottom of the league if you don’t set your stall out properly you won’t win. There’s no bad teams in this league.
Stuart Vahid (concussion) is doubtful and defender Ollie Schulz has served just one of his four march ban, but defender Nick Davis comes back in following his one match suspension.
Ward added: “We’re due a win against them!”
