It's been a great start to the season, says Bromley co-chairman Ashley Reading

BROMLEY’S co-chairman Ashley Reading is pleased with the club’s start to their new Vanarama Conference South campaign. The Ravens finished in a personal best of third-place last season and were defeated 4-1 on aggregate by their Kent rivals Ebbsfleet United in the play-off semi-finals last season.
Bromley are presently sitting in second place in the table with a 100% record after wins over Havant & Waterlooville (3-1) and Tuesday night’s 4-1 home win over Brighton-based Whitehawk.
Mr Reading told www.bromleyfc.net : “It was really pleasing to see. All of the boys were well prepared and delivered a great performance. I’m so proud of each and every single one of them.
“I also want to say what a fantastic job the management team have done, led by the manager Mark Goldberg.
“It’s all starting to take shape. Everyone in the boardroom was absolutely chuffed. It’s been a great start to the season.”
Bromley have launched a “Kids for Free” initiative this season and Mr Reading was keen to emphasise the idea behind it.
He said: “We’re a club that’s all about family. We’re going to work closely within the community and as far as we’re concerned we want as many under 16’s as possible coming down every Tuesday evening and every Saturday afternoon.
“We want to fill the ground with as many people as possible and that’s what the scheme is all about.
“We want people to have fun when they come to (Hayes Lane) and we want it to be more of an event.
“The whole day is about entertainment, what happens on the pitch but also what happens off it.
“We’re playing some great football on the pitch, but off the pitch it’s got to be fun for supporters too which is why we’ve introduced bouncy castles, pumping music, beat the goalie competitions, games, Pimms tens and BBQ’s and of course we can’t forget our wonderful cheerleaders and magnificent dance troupe.
“We’ve got a lot planned over here over the next few months and throughout the whole season.
“We’re going to be announcing a couple of surprises soon which we’re really excited about.
“This Saturday we’ve got some great pre-match and half-time entertainment, so don’t miss it, come on down.”
The Ravens have been denied top spot by Concord Rovers and now Boreham Wood and Saturday’s opponents Basingstoke Town have opened their Vanarama Conference South campaign with a home 1-0 win over newly-promoted Hemel Hemsptead Town and a 4-0 midweek win at Bath City and arrive in Kent in fifth-place.
