I'm looking forward to the future, says Kinnear (EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW)

Tuesday 02nd May 2006
Margate Legend Chris Kinnear made an emotional return to Hartsdown Park on Sunday for the SYKO CHALLENGE and has vowed he is ready to get back into management, writes Stephen McCartney.

The former Margate manager, who spent ten years at the club before his shock departure last month following their 1-1 draw with Windsor & Eton, admitted he’s enjoying his break but wants to get back into the game.

Speaking about his future, Kinnear said: “I’ve got an open mind.  I’ve had a nice couple of weeks, I’ve enjoyed it.

”It’s happened with Alan Curbishley, it wears you down and you can only do so much and maybe a few weeks will do me well.

”I’ve sat down and had a think and there’s a lot of things I would have changed.  That’s hindsight I suppose.  But no, I’m looking forward to the future.

”It’s looking all very bright and I’m still relatively young for a manager so I’ll be looking to get another side promoted a couple of divisions and continue my career.”

Kinnear has enjoyed plenty of highs during his managerial career.  “The promotions at Dover and Margate.  Two very small clubs at the time, took them to the top of the Conference.

He added: “Allright both sides have had lots of problems since but the supporters at both clubs have been absolutely magnificent to me and I’ve given everything I can and the next club I’ll go to I’ll do exactly the same.”

And the low points?  “To be fair, very few lows and I’ve enjoyed every moment of it.”

www.kentishfootball.co.uk would like to wish Chris all the very best for the future and thank him for his efforts whilst in the county with Margate and Dover Athletic.
