I am looking for a good response against Barnet, says Welling United boss Jamie Day

WELLING UNITED manager Jamie Day says he is looking for his side to bounce back from their disappointing FA Cup exit last weekend.

The Wings crashed to a 2-1 defeat away to Ryman Premier League side Maidstone United in the Fourth Qualifying Round.

Vanarama Conference sides start at that stage of the competition and Maidstone United’s reward is a trip to League Two Stevenage on Sunday, 9 November (2pm).

Welling United host league leaders Barnet at Park View Road tomorrow and Day wants his side to bounce back after losing to Jay Saunders’ side.

He said: “After last week’s disappointment where we got out battled and deservedly beaten, I am looking for a good response this week against a strong side that will be looking to get promotion this season and if we don’t perform to the levels we are capable of or don’t show any desire then we will get beaten again.

“Performances have been good apart from The FA Cup so hopefully we can put in a good display and get some points from the match but it won’t be easy.”

Barnet arrive at Park View Road sitting eight points clear at the top of the table, while Welling United are in seventeenth-place in the table, only two points clear of the relegation zone.
