Hythe Town gladly accept Isthmian League's offer to kick-off earlier against Cray Valley and Lancing to save power and money on their energy bills
HYTHE TOWN are the latest Kent club to bring forward their kick-off times an hour to save money with their floodlighting costs.
The Cannons home games against Cray Valley (Paper Mills) on Saturday, 5 November and against Lancing (19 November) will now kick-off at 14:00.
Club secretary Martin Giles was going to make an announcement to inform supporters of the change at last night’s home Isthmian League South East Division game against Sheppey United but the game failed a 16:30 pitch inspection and was called off due to a waterlogged pitch at Reachfields Stadium.
“We are now facing a difficult situation for this coming Saturday as despite the adjusted match posters going out there will be many who are not aware of the 2pm kick-off time,” said Mr Giles.
“I had planned to counter that by asking last night’s crowd to try and spread the word around – about the reasons that we have for trying to save money.
“As a way of helping its member clubs in these difficult times, the Isthmian League has permitted earlier Saturday kick-offs to save power. Hythe Town have gladly accepted this offer and with the kind co-operation of Cray Valley and Lancing, both matches will start at 2pm.
“As last night’s game was called off, we now ask all supporters to help the club by spreading the word around town. The last thing we want is for regulars to turn up at 2:45 this Saturday and find that it is already half-time!”
