Hythe's hard graft pays off as ground passes inspection

Friday 28th March 2008

HYTHE TOWN have been given the go-ahead for promotion into the Ryman League, as their ground passed it’s inspection yesterday, writes Stephen McCartney.

Third placed Hythe may be seven points behind Kent League leaders Thamesmead Town with only five games left to play, but Reachfields Stadium will be able to host Ryman League football when promotion is secured.

Club chairman, Mr Paul Markland is delighted with the news.

“At the end of last season I set our objective as becoming one of the top sides in the Kent League,” he told www.hythetownfc.co.uk.

“We’ve achieved our aim, in fact Hythe Town have been amongst the promotion contenders for several months, although I hadn’t expected this until next year.

“Consequently we decided to go for our step four ground grading.

“Reachfields was a Southern League stadium in the early 1990s so the work required was not as extensive as that facing other clubs. However, the list was still long!

“After much hard work over the last four weeks by our small band of hard working volunteers, I am delighted that we have just received the green light from the FA/Ryman ground inspectors.”

Paul Fisk’s side travel to Oakley Road, Bromley tomorrow to play a Holmesdale side that’s third from bottom in the table with four wins and nine draws from their 26 outings.

And Mr Markland added: “It’s now down to the players - this season or next!”
