Hythe issue rallying cry to support promotion push

Friday 30th January 2009

HYTHE TOWN officials have issued a rallying cry to people of the town to come and support the club during it’s promotion push, writes Stephen McCartney.

The club, based at the Reachfields Stadium, Fort Road, are in pole position in the Bulmers Cider Kent League and with a two point lead over Holmesdale, are favourites to clinch promotion into the Ryman League for the very first time in the club’s history.

Club secretary, Martin Giles, urges people to flock to the club on Valentines Day to get behind Paul Fisk’s side as they bid to clinch the title.

“The time is now right to ask those who express an interest to turn up regularly at home games,” Mr Giles told www.hythetownfc.co.uk.

“Of course times are difficult, but by trying to win the league and gaining promotion, we are offering an alternative to sitting around and getting depressed!

“Our sponsors have been a great help to the club, the latest addition being Westbourne Hygiene, who have enabled us to sign striker Mo Takaloo from Margate.

“Paul Fisk has assembled a good squad of players, who with a little fine-tuning could compete at the next level.

“Both the management and playing teams deserve greater support now, because the next three months will be vital.

“Do we settle for what we are now, or do we go for it? What we do know is without the town of Hythe’s support there is no choice to make, and that will be a shame because it has taken us seventeen years to get back to where we are now.”

Hythe’s next three games are away, but their next home game is against Croydon on Saturday, 14th February - and the club would love to see you there!
