Being truthful where we have come from after the first 10 games is amazing and a great testament to the squad we have put together, says Hythe Town boss Clive Cook

HYTHE TOWN boss Clive Cook says playing relegation threatened Peacehaven & Telscombe will not be easy tomorrow.

The Sussex hosts are in the bottom three in the Ryman League Division One South table, having collected six wins and five draws from their 32 league games and are five points adrift of safety.

Hythe Town, meanwhile, have won their last four games and have climbed up to ninth-place in the table, four points adrift of fifth-placed side Dorking Wanderers.

“We must be patient against Peacehaven tomorrow, our mind-set right and have the right attitude to get the right result,” said the Cannons boss.

“The tragic at their club (following the death of their chairman) has obviously affected the whole staff from top to bottom in a big way, with the change of management and player personnel as well.

“It has been a bit of an upheaval at Peacehaven & Telscombe Football club.  This can cause any club going there to be relaxed and have the wrong attitude, something we will be fully aware off.

“They will be tough to break down, that’s why we must be patient. Their past results don’t mean a thing, it’s tomorrow what counts.

“If we do the things we are good at and keep to the disciplines we have installed, we will get the result we have come for, three points, but there are no easy games in this division.”

Cook, who revealed that he has the services of midfielder Darren Marsden, who has returned from America, is delighted with the way the Reachfields Stadium outfit have progressed this season and is targeting the play-offs.

Cook said: “I would like to think we have enough in the squad to get into the play-offs, but who knows?”

“We will take every game as it comes and see where it lands us then we will deal with it.

“Being truthful where we have come from after the first 10 games is amazing and a great testament to the squad we have put together.

“Let’s hope we get the rewards the boys deserve.”
