We know that we will need to be at our best to win the game and to keep our push for the play-offs alive, says Hythe Town coach Will Graham

HYTHE TOWN coach Will Graham says he’s expecting a tough game against relegation threatened East Grinstead Town tomorrow.

The Cannons have climbed the Ryman League Division One South table with an impressive run of six wins on the spin and as a result are sitting in tenth-place on 56 points from 32 games.

Clive Cook’s side are now only four points adrift of fifth-placed side Faversham Town.

“The gaffer’s record since being in sole charge of the Cannons is 15 wins out of 18 which is fantastic considering where the club was in the league prior to his appointment,” said Graham.

Jack Harris scored the only goal of the game to beat Carshalton Athletic on the 3G pitch at Colston Avenue last weekend.

“Last week’s game against Carshalton was a disappointing performance, as normally we always play on the front foot but we got our goal early from Jack Harris and almost settled for the only goal,” reflected Graham.

“However, the positives for the win is we defended fantastically and didn’t panic being put under pressure which is good to see as we have been quite convincing in recent weeks.”

Former Corinthian and Erith & Belvedere manager Matt Longhurst has turned around fortunes at East Grinstead Town since taking over the club in October.

Ironically, his first game for the club was a 2-2 home draw against Hythe Town – who were then managed by Tony Beckingham.

The Wasps are currently fifth-from-bottom in the table but are seven points clear of the relegation zone, which is occupied by Chipstead, Peacehaven & Telscombe and Whitstable Town.

Whitstable Town are now solely managed by Ian Cox after his joint-manager Wayne Wilson decided to quit the club and has signed on as a player for Ramsgate.

Graham added: “Tomorrow’s game will be extremely tough with East Grinstead fighting for their lives and we know that we will need to be at our best to win the game and to keep our push for the play-offs alive.”
