Holmesdale: Water surrounding floodlight control box caused Croydon postponement
HOLMESDALE were forced to postpone today’s derby with Croydon due to a floodlighting issue at Oakley Road.
The Bromley-based home club announced that there will be a pitch inspection at 09:45 this morning and the pitch was passed fit to play.
“We still have an issue with the floodlights and water sitting around the floodlight control box,” said club secretary Mark Hayes.
“The problem is the water surrounding and under the control box, not much we can do as the water table is so high at the moment.”
Holmesdale contacted the Southern Counties East Football League over the issue and decided against an earlier kick-off so it was decided to call off the First Division fixture and re-arrange it in the New Year.
Holmesdale are without a game next Saturday 4 January 2020, while Croydon are at home to Stansfeld.
