We've done brilliantly to be where we are at this stage of the season, says Hollands & Blair boss Paul Piggott

HOLLANDS & BLAIR boss Paul Piggott says there’s a good feeling around the dressing room ahead of tomorrow’s home clash against Beckenham Town.

 

The Gillingham based side claimed back-to-back Kent Invicta League titles and have started their debut season in the Southern Counties East Football League in great fashion.

Piggott’s side are sitting proudly at the summit, having collected 39 points from 17 games, three points clear of title-favourites Greenwich Borough.

Blair defeated struggling Holmesdale 7-0 in their last game a couple of weeks ago and Piggott said: “Our last game was one of our best performances of the season against Holmesdale.

“To be fair, I think we caught them at a good time with a new manager coming in and players coming in and going but I thought we was clinical in front of goal.

“It’s easy for players to get carried away with their own game on a day like that but to a man they were brilliant.

“We had Justin Ascheri and Abe Emmanuel back in the squad, which was great to see them as they’ve both been out injured since the opening week of the season.”

Looking ahead to tomorrow’s league game at home to fourth-placed Beckenham Town, Piggott warned: “This week will be a tough game against an in-form Beckenham, but I’d like to think we’re in for one as well.

“We’ve Tom Mitchelson, Lewis Taylor and James McDonald back after missing the last game due to holiday so squad wise we are almost at full strength so no excuses from our corner.

“The boys are in good shape and there’s a good feeling around the changing room and so there should be as they’ve done brilliantly to be where we are at this stage of the season.

“But I’m sure Beckenham will come to Star Meadow tomorrow and try and get the three points. We go out to get three points most match days so if anyone’s passing the ground pop in because you’ll see two good sides trying their best to win a game of football.”
