Hollands & Blair appoint Clint Gooding as their new boss

Thursday 30th November 2017

HOLLANDS & BLAIR have appointed Clint Gooding as their new manager after parting company with Bryan Greenfield seven days ago.

The Gillingham-based club are rooted to the foot of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table with only two points from their 15 league games.

“Clint is returning to the club after previously being number two to Paul Piggott,” said a club statement published on www.hollandsandblair.co.uk.

“He brings new experience to the club and we wish him the best of luck and the club will provide the support he will need in this difficult task.

“Damien Hodge will continue as assistant and coaches Martin Bass and Damien Hopkins remain in place as the coaching team.

“The club would also like to thank the various applicants who applied for the position. It was wide and varied and reflected a tremendous interest that we appreciated.”

Hollands & Blair have won only three cup games in 21 games this season, drawing two and have suffered 16 defeats in all competitions this term.

“Due to a poor run of results over a period of time the club have come to this very difficult decision  as Bryan has been a huge part of Blair’s success and progression over the last 10 years, playing over 300 games for the first team and going on to become manager in the last 18 months,” said a club statement on Greenfield’s departure.

“The club would like to thank Jock for his hard work and dedication and hope that he stays as part of the family off the field helping to progress the club further.”

Meanwhile, in other news from Darland Avenue, Paul Piggott, the club’s most successful manager, has taken over as joint-chairman alongside Phil Knights.

“Laurence Plummer, after announcing internally his wish to step down in 2015, will now hand over the control of Blair to younger personnel. His role of club manager and lead executive of Hollands & Blair will now be controlled by elected Joint Chairman,” added a statement, which confirmed Mr Plummer will retain his role of club secretary.

Gooding’s first game in charge – with Hollands & Blair 13 points of safety taking goal-difference into account – will be a League game against Cray Valley on Saturday (15:00).
