HERNE BAY manager Sam Denly has unveiled the signing of much-travelled striker Stuart Zanone on a one-year contract.

Zanone is a proven goalscorer and scored 30 goals to help Thamesmead Town win promotion from the Ryman League Division One North and in the 2014-15 season he netted a club record 47 goals for Ashford United in the Southern Counties East Football League, which included scoring all seven in a game at Lingfield.

Denly told The Bay’s website: “I am delighted to have secured Stuart’s signature for a one-year contract at Herne Bay for the coming season.

“Stuart’s goalscoring records for itself at this level of football and above so he will be a massive asset to the already strong squad we have.

“We now have a great balance within the forward department combining strength, experience, youth, pace and goals which should make for an exciting and successful mix.

“I would like to welcome Stuart to the club and looking forward to working with him.”

Herne Bay begin their pre-season campaign with a game in Leatherhead on Tuesday 19 July (19:30).

Herne Bay’s top-eight finish in the Ryman League Division One South last season was the club’s highest finish in four years at that level of football.
