Harwood shuns Margate to return to Carshalton
LIAM HARWOOD has shunned Margate to return to his former club Carshalton Athletic, writes Stephen McCartney.
Harwood, 20, who made thirteen appearances for the Thanet club whilst on loan from Bristol Rovers, has returned to Carshalton Athletic, and is expected to start against bottom-of-the-table Heybridge Swifts tomorrow, instead of playing for Margate against Maidstone United at Bourne Park.
Carshalton Athletic issued a statement on their website today to confirm the central defender’s return to Colston Avenue.
“Terms have been agreed with Bristol Rovers for the return to Colston Avenue of Liam Harwood,” said the statement, published on www.carshaltonathletic.co.uk.
“Liam will be on a free short term loan, but he is keen to be part of what’s happening at the club in the longer term.
“Despite the rumours, it is a fact that no signing or loan fee has been paid for Liam.”
The Surrey club’s director of football Paul Dipre added, “It will be good to see Liam wearing the number five shirt for Carshalton Athletic tomorrow. I know that he will be out to prove that he is good enough to be offered a permanent position here.”
