GREENWICH BOROUGH manager Gary Alexander says he wants his players to prepare properly for their four festive fixtures.

Alexander (pictured) has guided the club to sixth-place in the Bostik South table with 42 points on the board from their 22 league outings.

Last weekend they thrashed Sittingbourne 5-1 and now face a busy time ahead.

Tomorrow, Greenwich Borough host fifth-from-bottom side Guernsey (13:00), before making the short trip to Phoenix Sports on Boxing Day, Tuesday 26 December (13:00).

Greenwich Borough then travel to Ramsgate on Saturday 30 December, before the make-or-break home clash against fellow promotion chasers Cray Wanderers on Monday 1 January 2018 (both games kicking off at 15:00)

“Christmas is a busy time and the games come thick and fast and with our squad not being the biggest it really does test you at these levels,” said Alexander.

“It’s not easy as players have family and kids to spend time with and many are working long hours throughout the year, so it’s an important time to be with those close, so I definitely feel a little extra time between games wouldn’t do any harm, allowing that recovery and valuable time with family and friends.

“Our Christmas starts with Guernsey on Saturday, a side who again on their day are capable of producing and beating anyone so to get Christmas off to a good start we have to be at our best.

“Phoenix is always going to be tough, being a derby, but a game I look forward to.

“Then it’s a long journey to Ramsgate, a side that have turned up some fantastic results under Lloyd Blackman over the season and a game I’m sure he will have his team well-prepared for having played them twice in League and Cup.

“Then it’s another derby with Cray Wanderers, a game we must make sure we prepare correctly for to give ourselves a chance against one of the best teams I’ve watched over the course of the season.

“Tony Russell does a great job and massive credit to him for putting together such a strong squad with real quality players and people around him.

“It’s another game I look forward to as to be the best you need to beat the best so it’s another great test.

“Four games in a short space of time will really test us but if we look after ourselves and prepare the right way, we’ll give ourselves a chance in each game we play in and hopefully give ourselves a chance to be challenging for the end of season honours. It’s a big period but one we all look forward to.”
