We’re hopeful and confident that if we can perform to our levels, we can really kick on and hopefully get our name in the hat for the next round, says Glebe boss Harry Hudson
GLEBE manager Harry Hudson says his side travel to play May & Baker tomorrow full of confidence.
The Chislehurst-based outfit sit proudly at the summit of the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division, unbeaten in eight league games and with 22 points, three clear of Sheppey United, who have a game in hand.
May & Baker play at Aveley’s Parkside stadium and Hudson is relishing playing on their artificial pitch.
Glebe comfortably defeated Coggeshall United 3-1 in The FA Vase First Qualifying Round and face another Eastern Counties League First Division South opponent in the Second Qualifying Round tomorrow.
“May & Baker are obviously doing very well in Step Six, they are fourth in the table so we know it’s going to be a very difficult game,” said Hudson.
“They’re very effective getting the ball forward quickly, we know they’ve got some real offensive threats and will need to be managed carefully.
“Thankfully, we’re at Aveley, which is a fantastic facility and we’d like to think the pitch will help our style, something that we perhaps struggled slightly against Coggeshall.
“We’re going into the game full of confidence, we’ve kept four clean sheets in the league in a row, conceded one goal in the last five so that foundation, the defensive stability, should give us a chance to hopefully take the game to May & Baker.
“We do expect a very difficult tie. We’re hopeful and confident that if we can perform to our levels, we can really kick on and hopefully get our name in the hat for the next round.”
