I want to win every competition I'm in, says Glebe manager Adam Woodward

Friday 03rd February 2017

GLEBE manager Adam Woodward says he’s taking tomorrow’s London Senior Trophy tie against South Kilburn seriously.

The Chislehurst-based club remain in second-place in the Southern Counties East Football League First Division table following their 5-0 home win over ninth-placed Lydd Town on Tuesday night.

Glebe have collected 56 points from their 22 games and are one point adrift of Rusthall but with a couple of games in hand, as both clubs aim to reach the top-flight for the first time in their histories.

“We broke the season down into three mini-seasons, look we’ll just keep plugging away,” said Woodward, who’s side thrashed Lydd Town courtesy of strikers Fred Obasa (hat-trick) and Aaron Jeffery.

“We’ve just got to make sure we do the correct things, keep trying to win games of football and keep disciplined and we’ll keep going.”

Woodward admitted that he is taking tomorrow’s Quarter-Final tie against their Wembley-based opponents with one eye on winning the trophy.

“It’s a Quarter-Final in the Cup. We played Canterbury a few weeks ago and we had a busy schedule and I made five or six changes but we held them until the 85th minute and Fred (Obasa) didn’t do his job and go on the post and we conceded from that but on Tuesday night he’s been a match-winner so there will be one or two changes.  There won’t be massive changes because we haven’t got a game in the week so we need to keep the boys ticking over.

“There’s a couple carrying knocks that can have a rest but we’re in the Quarter-Finals of the cup and I want to win it.

“I want to win every competition I’m in.  I want to win that Cup because they (Glebe under the management of Simon Copley) won it last year.”

Kick-off has been brought forward to 14:00.
