Gillingham retained list: Eight players released while Stuart Nelson and Billy Knott are placed on the transfer list

GILLINGHAM have confirmed that four players have been offered new contracts.

The club narrowly escaped relegation from Sky Bet League One last season, finishing fifth-from-bottom in the table with 50 points in the bag from their 46 league games, a point clear of the relegation zone which was occupied by Port Vale, Swindon Town, Coventry City and Chesterfield, who all drop to the lowest tier of the Football League.

Greg Cundle, Elliott List, Cody McDonald and Josh Parker are those who have been approached with new deals at the MEMS Priestfield Stadium.

The club can also announce that Mitch Dickenson, Rory Donnelly, Chris Heard, Ryan Jackson, Ollie Muldoon, Henry Newcombe, Emmanuel Osadebe and Zesh Rehman will all be released upon the expiration of their contracts.

Goalkeeper Stuart Nelson and midfielder Billy Knott have been placed on the transfer list.

“The club would like to thank those departing players for their efforts during their time with the Gills. We wish them the best of luck in the future,” said a club statement.

Former Welling United and Forest Green Rovers boss Adrian Pennock has been retained as head coach for the next 12 months, while Peter Taylor returns to the club as director of football.
