Gates have been disappointing, admits Fleet chairman

Chairman Brian Kilcullen is urging the club's fans to snap up their season tickets early - otherwise Gravesend and Northfleet may not be able to afford a serious play-off push next season, writes Alex Leach – www.gravesendreporter.co.uk

The club recently announced a price freeze on Nationwide Conference matchday and season tickets, with additional savings thrown in if the Fleet faithful either purchase their season tickets early or encourage new supporters to do so.

The initiative is designed to help halt disappointing home gates in the Fleet's first full campaign as a full-time outfit.

But if season ticket sales for next season do not go well, the Fleet's hopes might be beached.

Kilcullen explained: "When we sit down and plan out next year's campaign, we've got to take into account that this season's gates have been a bit disappointing.

"If we feel we cannot get the gates back up to higher levels, then we are going to have to budget accordingly.

"The more fans that can buy their season tickets early and show us their support for next season, the more likely it is we can plan out a better campaign for next season."
