Folkestone Invicta chairman stands down after nine years at the helm

Sunday 09th December 2007

Folkestone Invicta chairman Bob Dix stood down from his position at the club’s shareholders’ meting last week, citing that he had taken the club as far as he can, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Cheriton Road club have now gone eleven competitive games without a win, and as a consequence, have slipped down to second from bottom in the Ryman Premier League table, with 19 points from 18 games - but only eleven points adrift of third placed rivals' Ramsgate.

A statement issued by the club on it’s website www.folkestoneinvicta.co.uk said: “Bob Dix informed his colleagues that after nine years as chairman, he feels he has taken the club as far as he can and wishes to relinquish the position,”

“He would like everyone to be aware that he is proud of what he has achieved and is anxious to assure all involved with the club that he will continue to be a director of the club, maintaining his general manager role.

“The Board are extremely pleased to announce that, as from today, Gordon Wallis will assume the role of Chairman.

“Mr Wallis – being vastly experienced in the running of a Football Club – is the natural choice to succeed and does so with the full backing of the Board.

“It is hoped that everyone will support and assist Gordon in fulfilling his ambition of taking Folkestone Invicta to the next level."
