Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley retains Tyler Sterling and long-serving defender Josh Vincent

FOLKESTONE INVICTA manager Neil Cugley has retained two more of his current squad ahead of next season’s Isthmian League Premier Division campaign.

The club are delighted to announce that striker Tyler Sterling, 19, is the latest player to commit to staying at Cheriton Road for next season.

Sterling is a product of the clubs youth system, playing a part in Paul Stanton’s treble-winning under 18 team in the 2018-19 Kent Youth League season.

Sterling has made 13 appearances for the club, having spent time at Isthmian League South East Division side Herne Bay on loan during a very stop-start beginning to his first-team career due to the Covid-19 health pandemic.

“We think a lot of Tyler and it’s great to see him back (from Herne Bay) looking fit and ready to go for next season,” Cugley told the club website.

“He’s a lad with a lot of talent and we hope he can work hard and we can get the best from him.”

Meanwhile, defender Josh Vincent had also agreed to stay at his home-town club next season.

“It may come as no surprise as Josh is a local lad with 524 games under his belt but his goal against Hornchurch in the final game before the season was curtailed was sure to have drawn interest from some of the biggest clubs in the game,” said a club statement.

“Luckily, the one-club man has no intensions of swapping the black and amber stripes for any other shirt and will be blessing the Cheriton Road pitch when we return to football at the end of June.”

Vincent stepped into the first-team squad during the 2008-09 season and was voted young-player-of-the-year at the end of that season.

Vincent was a member of the 2015-16 Isthmian League Division One South championship-winning team and was awarded a testimonial in 2018.
